Yes, by now we’ve all seen some crazy things from people trying to keep themselves pathogen free (germs). While often times it can help with a little comedic relief some things are a bit concerning. For example, i’ve seen video of parents spraying their kids body and face with disinfectants. I’ve also seen people spraying disinfectant straight into their mouths or even worse drink an entire bottle of alcohol.

I shouldn’t have to say how dangerous this can be but for those that don’t know “PLEASE DO NOT EVER EVER EVER DO THIS”. Instead of coming down on anyone for trying to protect themselves lets focus on how we can protect ourselves from the Covid-19 viruses or other pathogens in a better way.

We are mandated to self quarantine or stay home but still need to stretch our legs, get groceries, or walk our dogs. So, not going outside is not always an option. When you come home here are some tips to stay clean.

  1. Take Off your Shoes and Clothes at the door.

Yes, if you can strip down to your undergarments and place your clothes in a hamper close to the door. This is so you do not have to travel around the house with dirty clothes.

2. Stash your keys and Coats

Things that don’t often get washed but travel outside like coats, keys, reusable grocery bags etc don’t lay them around the house. Instead, place it in the closet closest to the door away from everything else. This isn’t beeng dramatic. Our outerwear often times touches things outside with out us knowing or knowing. So its best to be safe then sorry.

3. Wash Your Hands

Once you’ve stripped away all of your outside clothes Wash your hands immediately before you touch anything. Be sure to wipe around the sink with a clean microfiber cloth to pick up any germs that may have fallen and spashed in or around the sink. Check out our Blog on how to Wash your hands

4. Wipe Down All Touch Points More Often.

Yeah, this is critical. We cant always control what other are doing or know if they are a carrier of the Covid-19 it’s best to be safe. Wipe down touch points with your chosen disinfectant. Please read the instructions as most surfaces need to be saturated with the solution for at least 10 minutes. If it dries or is wiped off it won’t kill any bacteria.

For a natural alternative that removes 98% of Bacteria and Viruses use Microfiber cloths. For quick ways to pick up germs read our article on Microfiber Cloths.

5. Don’t Sneeze Into your hand or Air

instead sneeze into your arm fold, or inside your shirt. The reality is according to the CDC you could be a carrier of the corona virus and never show any symptoms. So sneezing into your hands or air exposes other to a host of bacteria and viruses but more importantly the COVID-19 .

Old habits die hard. If you make a mistake and sneeze into your hands, wash it ASAP. Oh and don’t touch nothing not even the sink handle.. Read our blog on The difference between Viruses & Bacteria to learn more.
