Put away all your excuses and start including the bed in your everyday routine. Maid Share will give you easy tips for making your bed look nicely.

Here’s what you will need:

  • Mattress Pad

  • Fitted Sheet

  • Top Sheet

  • Comforter, Duvet or Blanket

  • Pillow cases

Step 1. Remove the used linens and Clear the bed.

If it has been a week since you’ve washed your sheets, then now is the great time to do so. Start by clearing off any sheets and pillows you have on bed and put them in the laundry basket to get it ready for a wash. You can shake out the mattress pad (if you have) and if it doesn’t need to be laundered yet. (Wash the mattress if it’s already look dirty.)

Step 2. Add the mattress pad or the fitted sheet

A mattress pad can use to protect your mattress from getting sweat and other stains, and can also give you added comfort. It is easy to put on since most of the mattress pads have an elastic band on the corners. Line up both corners of the mattress and the pad and put it on.

Put on the fitted sheets, each sides are completely elastic that will make your bed tighter. So you can simply slip the sheet pockets on each corners and put on tightly to avoid any crumpled.

Step 3. Add the Top Sheet

First, find the side of the sheet that is hemmed and place the sheet equally on the bed. Make sure that there is an even amount of sheet hanging off each side of the bed. Tuck in the sheet at the foot of the bed and at each bottom corner, using hospital corners.

Step 4. Do the Hospital Corners

We might see this perfect corners in a luxury hotels, but this can also be done in your bedroom. This is how you do it. First, tuck the sheet under the mattress along the foot of the bed. At the right corner, lift the hanging side of the sheet up and lay it on your bed.

There will be an extra flap of fabric hanging down and so tuck that piece under the mattress. Fold the side down again and tuck it under. These hospital corners will keep the sheet tight against the corner of the bed and very difficult to pull out of place. Make sure that you get rid of any crumpled so the entire sheet will be smooth. Repeat this process on the other side for a nice, tighter bed.

Step 5. Put on the Duvet or Comforter

This is your chance to get your bed looking elegant by picking your favorite and decorative comforter, duvet, quilt or whatever cover you feel to use. It is the most visible part so you can use an attractive yet a simple design. Just put on your bed cover out of your sheets and have each sides hanging over the edges. Same as the other sheets, avoid any crumpled but this is only when you have time or whenever you feel like it.

Step 6. Fold down the top sheet and add the pillows

At the top of your bed, fold down the cover to whatever size you feel to leave enough space for your pillows. In this way, it will give your bed nicer look together with the pillows.

Place your soft and huggable pillows on the top of the bed and at the space you left for decorating. Use your desired pillowcases and pillow sizes. You can do whatever you feel will give your bed a total make over. Some people places decorative sheets or blanket at the foot part of the bed to show more elegance.

Making a bed is sometimes a waste of time but if you do it regularly or every morning, you’ll realize that making it neat and organized will give you a smile on your face and ready to face the new day. Make it a habit, so it will be part of your everyday routine and get used to it.

You may also set a date when you should wash your sheets and pillowcases every week. This will help you to keep up with the laundry and at the same time, you’ll never sleep without a fresh set when it’s time to strip the bed.

It is actually the same as getting yourself dressed. You start underneath (like your mattress pad) then putting on the clothes (like sheets, comforter and pillows) and lastly, decorating it as to how you want to see yourself presentable.
